Cisco Anyconnect Download
At Carnegie Mellon University, Cisco AnyConnect is the VPN client available for connecting to Carnegie Mellon’s VPNs. There are two primary VPNs available at CMU: General Use Campus VPN - This split tunnel VPN will encrypt network traffic only going to campus IP addresses. AnyConnect Plus/Apex licensing and Cisco head-end hardware is required. The application is not permitted for use with legacy licensing (Essentials or Premium PLUS Mobile). AnyConnect may not be used with non-Cisco hardware under any circumstances. With the AnyConnect 'Start Before Logon module (GINA)' package, you can establish a VPN connection to our infrastructure before you log in to Windows. This can be installed via 'Software Center' found in the Startmenu on SCS managed Windows machines that are subscribed to Software Support. Please direct any questions to the Computing Services Help Center at it-help@cmu.edu or 412-268-4357 (HELP). Off-Campus Access Requirements Off-campus users will need to use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client to access SPARCS.
Current CMU students, faculty, and staff have access to electronic library materials from off campus. All other users must be on campus and request temporary computer access to use electronic materials.
Most databases, eBooks, and other electronic resources use EZproxy authentication. Please access your resource and use your Andrew ID and password to log in when prompted.
If you're off campus and have problems, please report them using this form or email eresources@cmu.libanswers.com.
Please note: SciVal, ThomsonONE, and WRDS (Wharton Research Data Services) do not use EZproxy. To access these databases, use the VPN method explained below.
